Abstract

The global shift towards renewable energy sources has become a critical element in achieving sustainable development goals. This study explores the role of the alternative energy sector in promoting sustainable development by examining international best practices and assessing their applicability in the context of Azerbaijan. Drawing on the experiences of countries such as Germany, Denmark, and China, which have successfully integrated renewable energy into their economic and environmental strategies, the research identifies key policy instruments, investment models, and technological innovations that drive sectoral growth. The analysis highlights the current state of alternative energy in Azerbaijan, evaluates existing challenges, and proposes practical recommendations for adopting global practices to enhance energy security, reduce environmental impact, and foster economic diversification. The study aims to provide a strategic framework for policymakers, investors, and industry stakeholders to harness the full potential of alternative energy in Azerbaijan’s sustainable development pathway.
