Asymmetry in the Knowledge Society
Abstract
The Internet, everyone's access to information, has led to a democratization of knowledge. At the same time, in the absence of changing the paradigm of educating the population, new technologies, artificial intelligence, have created another type of asymmetry through adverse selection, moral hazard. Elements of social manipulation and digital deception, facilitated by new social media, built on emerging technologies, deepen another kind of asymmetry. This paper analyzes these changes, trends, and identifies possible options to rebalance access to accurate information to eliminate cognitive disparities. Education requires a new approach, because in its current form it can create more polarization and asymmetry for disadvantaged categories. There is a gap between technological developments and social changes that creates a new kind of asymmetry, of disparities. This article conducts research of these approaches, wishing to propose including the related public policy element.
