Democratic Control Over the Security Services through the Lens of the Objective of Ensuring the Security of the Republic of Moldova
Abstract
The role and place of intelligence services in the process of preventing and combating thenegative effects on the complex process of ensuring national security is of utmost importance, especiallyin light of the challenges generated by recent events. Democratic control over intelligence services is akey element of modern democracies and a mechanism to guarantee the efficiency and fairness of theiractions. This article presents the essential elements of the legal and institutional mechanisms for ensuringdemocratic control over the intelligence services in the Republic of Moldova through the lens of theobjectives established in the National Security Strategy.
