Immigration and Integration in the European Union
Abstract
Among the objectives of the European Union is the comprehensive immigration policy, oriented towards the future and based on solidarity. Related to immigration and immigrants, integration is seen as a process of active participation of immigrants in all dimensions of European society, a process that must be seen from two directions - of the host society and of the immigrants. The integration of immigrants is a complex process, a real challenge for both directions. For the success of integration, there are legislative acts in the European Union that have an impact on the integration of immigrants. Based on these considerations, the article aims at the following scientific objectives: the presentation of some approaches to European integration, some statistics and some aspects of the European Union policy in the field of immigration and integration.
