Phraseology and Stylistics in Liviu Rebreanu's Novels

Abstract

In this paper, I will try to prove the strong connection between two linguistic disciplines,
phraseology and stylistics. Most of all, I aim at highlighting the stylistic component of the existing
phraseologisms in Liviu Rebreanu’s novels, a component which gives the language used by Rebreanu a
high degree of expressiveness. At the same time, I will try to apply some ideas theorized by Iorgu Iordan
and Tudor Vianu.
