Abstract

Specialists certified that the inland waterways are vulnerable to climate change and affect the entire economy. The most affected states are those directly connected to the Danube River, and freight transport has an essential role in regional development. We will analyze the impact of climate change on the Danube area, including inland waterways and inland ports. The climate changes for the site were reflected in the water level, considering the storms, wind, and ice. The purpose is to present a synthesis of these effects on the specified site. The results presented are part of the PLOTO project: Deployment and Assessment of Predictive modeling, environmentally sustainable and emerging digital technologies, and tools for improving the resilience of IWW against Climate change and other extremes (HORIZON-CL5-2021-D6-01-09), a project in which is involved the Daubius University of Romania.
