The Nexus between FDI, Renewable Energy and Environmental Quality – a View on the Moderating Role of Remittance
Abstract
Economic growth is still at large the main goal for world governments. Shifting the development patterns towards sustainability and green economic growth is challenging in a globalized world. Economic activities were always in close relation with energy consumption and environmental degradation (Ayad et al., 2023; Dilankiev et al., 2023; Nureen et al., 2023; Nuta et al., 2015; Nuta and Nuta, 2020; Nuta, 2011; Nuta et al., 2015b; Zhang et al., 2023). To keep a steady economic growth and at the same time to mitigate the environmental issues, several policy options are available, such as switching from classic energy sources to renewable energy (Abban et al., 2022; Abban et al., 2023, Balsalobre-Lorente et al., 2023; Shahbaz et al., 2023; Tiwari et al., 2023). The aim of this study is to explore the potential role remittance can play in moderating the relationship between foreign direct investments, renewable energy and environmental quality. Using the OLS approach on a panel of top remittance receiving economies, will help us debate on the nexus between variables and suggest several policy recommendations based on the study results.
